I'm still all chinhands over the Smallville finale, and indulging in a little nostalgia this morning by looking back through my oooold SV recs. And then I realized--in my last post, I was all REMEMBER HOW I USED TO BE OBSESSED WITH THIS SHOW BACK IN THE DAY? and then today I remembered uh, yeah, none of you would because I didn't even get an LJ until 2002 and I didn't start this fannish one until 2004, and I was basically already out of the fandom by then. Most of my lurkery particpation for SV was on TWoP and lists. Time passing, how does it work?

welcome to the new people on my flist! there's an intro post here that gives a little bit of background info on me and my fandoms. ♥

I don't talk a lot about Community here, but it's mostly because every week my review would be I LOVE THIS SHOW, LET ME TELL YOU WHY I LOVE THIS SHOW except the past few episodes. But this week reminded me that I REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS SHOW. So, you know, let me tell you why I love this show.

I'll do a SPN reaction later because I missed a few parts and I need to rewatch (and because I want to rewatch it, which hasn't happened for like the last 4/5 episodes) but first I'm going to talk about a show that I think no one else but me is watching, but oh well because

It's been a while since I incoherently rambled about a tv show, hasn't it? Long story short, you should give Camelot a chance if you like twisty origins, control freaks, and interesting female characters, and if you don't mind a little gratitous sex with your Arthurian legends.*


*I need to point out though that I have like next to zero knowledge about this stuff and the last Camelot-y thing I saw was Sword and the Stone, so uh, there might be things in the show that could bother people familiar w/ these stories that just passed right over my head /cya

also The Fast and The Furious came on after Camelot, so my viewing schedule was
SPN-->CMLT-->TFFT, which, besides each having elements that hit my guilty pleasure buttons, uh, let's just say, me and my slash goggles had a good time tonight. Fast Five soon!

I may or may not have jammed out to this version of "Friday". Apparently if Jimmy Fallon raised 26k for DonorsChoose then Stephen Colbert had to come and perform it on his show.






I know the meme is reaching its saturation point quickly, but one of my fav april fool's joke (besides Google's "Helvetica", natch) of yesterday was when someone tweeted a link to a rick roll...but it was actually "Friday". Has the joke video torch been passed?

I have been watching a lot of movies lately, but all rented or borrowed. Except! This week I did a double and went to see two movies in the theater (at the early bird rate lol).

Both of them I would recommend, particularly if you enjoy visually awesome films. I know Sucker Punch in particular has been getting negative reviews, but on the whole I liked them both.

Overall, I enjoyed Sucker Punch, it had a good soundtrack, and it was nice to see a movie with five awesome ladies in it. I'll probably see it again before it leaves the theater; this is definitely a movie made to be seen on the big screen.

Speaking of the soundtrack, my favorite tracks off it:

A Beatles' cover for a dreary and grey and still slightly snow-covered Wed (because snowstorms after having a week of 65-70 degrees is totally normal). Thing #4 I did not miss about living here: seasonal whiplash. Of course, if I was still in Michigan, I'd be complaining about the everlasting winter and how I would kill for just a day of warm weather. Maybe the conclusion I should take from this is that I just like to bitch about the weather.

Life's been unbearably boring as of late.  I can't even think of things to post or tweet or tumbl or comment or whatever, and I feel like I'm talking/staring into a giant void.  everything is boring, boring, boring. I've been making vidlets nonstop though, for some reason. There was the Glee one I posted a few days ago, and there's three more Community ones coming. ~get excited~
 

Fandom nostalgia's been creepin' in, which I suspect has something to do with said boredom.  I dug out my old LOTR cds and listened to the ROTK soundtrack while driving downtown yesterday morning. I decided I'm going to start every morning like that.  Makes being stuck in a traffic a bit more like an epic quest and much less like the bane of my existence.  I've been seeing Lord of the Rings and lotrips mentioned a few times on the flist and around recently, so maybe I'm not the only one feeling nostalgic for it.  I wish I had been more involved on livejournal during the heyday of the movie fandom; I've been on LJ since 2002 but it wasn't until 2004 I started using it actively for fandoms. Most message boards and mailing lists intdimated me, so I spent most of my early fannish career lurking fic sites, bothering NoRoMos in X-Files chats, and being a total teenage brat on TORn and Whose Line boards, but none of that was in a super active way. 
 

  tl;dr: I miss nerding it up about LoTR and lotrips.  I miss having a *fandom* in general. There's a whole of shows I like but not a lot I'm fannish about. Community doesn't really count, though I love it so. Supernatural scares me outside my flist.

Instead of watching the Oscars I watched the Starz preview of Camelot.  ( spoilers for the pilot )You can watch the pilot streaming at the Starz site. 

. There's already fic and multiple communities for it, and I don't even know why this surprises me.
